From the bright yellow of the oil seed rape to the cream of May blossom, and now this vivid red from a field full of poppies – spotted this week in the Wylye valley here in Wiltshire. Maybe our wild flowers don’t yet rival Holland’s tulips, but what amazing variety we have to admire in England. And further off, on a bigger scale, the landscape is clothed in its lush green of early summer; to think, in a few short weeks it will turn golden as harvest nears.
