Showtime

SHOWTIME  2016 provided perfect weather for our latest local shows. As a result the public flocked to them, making them a great success. We, as do many of the professional firms, attend these local events to support the Show financially but also to acknowledge the hard work undertaken by the community, many of whom we act for throughout the year. The Shows are a PR occasion with a hint of business: by staying in the public eye, we hope clients will keep in touch with us as their needs arise.

Both the Ellingham & Ringwood and the Gillingham & Shaftesbury Shows had record attendances. The variety of animals, events and trade stands at each show have to catch the eye of the visitors. But each year we admire the hard work and dedication put in by the exhibitors in presenting themselves to the highest standard. The hours of work involved in grooming a Shire horse, adorning his gleaming harness with ribbons and buffing his highly polished wagon are impressive.

Local goods and homemade fare are on offer in the many tents. The many and various entries in the art, produce and livestock competitions are conscientiously sorted out into prize winning order by esteemed judges – some of whom travel many miles to perform this task.

And it is an event where the rural community meets. It is becoming increasingly rare for the countryside to have such opportunities but agricultural shows seem to be in the ascendancy and, despite all the modern technology affecting daily life, these special days are still enjoyed by young and old alike.
